Later, Laila is reunited with Tariq, her long lost lover who she had been told was dead.

Analysis: When Rasheed forces Laila to take Aziza to the orphanage, it breaks her heart. She tries to visit her as much as she can, even when Rasheed tries to find ways of getting out of going. This makes it hard for Laila to go, because women aren’t supposed to be out of the house, unless they are accompanied by a male relative. This only make Laila more determined to see her daughter. Later in these two chapters, Laila is reunited with Tariq. This sends flows of emotions through her, and makes her realize that Rasheed has kept that fact of Tariq still being alive from her through their whole marriage. She also realizes that is how Rasheed got her to marry him. This makes her very upset, and makes her question their marriage even more.
